Hardwood Backgammon Review
If you are the nostalgic type this Xbox backgammon game may be for you, but first you have to get used to having a controller in your hand and not a dice cup.
Game play
The game follows the same rules that have governed backgammon for ages and it also brings back some lost elements to the game like the doubling dice. One problem with the game is there is no tutorial, so if you are not familiar with the game you can learn as you play or go online and find one of the hundreds of sites about backgammon. Another thing I did not like was the usage of terminology. The average player does not know what a gammon is or bearing off but after a few games you should understand and be playing like a pro.
Options
There are not many bells and whistles in this game. You have the option to set a point limit and to use the doubling dice or not but that%u2019s about it. The only real difference between this backgammon game and the one your grandmother used t play is the special effects, and even those don%u2019t come near pushing the envelope on this new Xbox Different moves will trigger small background effects like fire balls and other silly things.
Overall
There is nothing special about this game so if you are looking for some serious action this may not be the game for you. But if what you are looking for is a god old fashion backgammon game I would give this one a try.
