Tips for Backgammon
Here are some tips to help improve your Backgammon game.
In my experience at playing the game of Backgammon the most important tip I can give you is to block you opponent. What I mean by this is to fill up your first 5 spaces with at least 2 checkers in each place this way once you land on one of his checkers, he will not be able to re-enter it into the game. This will effectively stop him from play until you open a spot for him to bring his checker back on the board.
Try to keep all your checkers in groups of two, this will keep your opponent from landing on one of your pieces. It is not always possible to do this but try as best you can.
Leave the two checkers that start in the opponent area there for as long as you can. Later in the game this will give you the chance to land on your opponents checkers when he has his pieces near his side sending his pieces back to the beginning. When this is done in connection with the above tip it leaves your opponent is a bad situation because until you start removing pieces off the board he can not move any checkers.
My last Backgammon tip is very important if you want to win at backgammon. If you have all your checkers in your area and are about to start removing them and your opponent has checkers to move back on the board. Always remove your checkers starting in the number 5 spot. This means if your first roll is a 3 and a 4 do not move 2 checkers from those spots off the board that will leave 2 open spaces your opponents can land on to get back in sending your piece back to the beginning. Move the pieces from the fifth spot this way if he rolls a 6 he is now past all your checkers and there is no chance he can land on you.
By following these simple rules you will find you can beat most average Backgammon players who just think it is a game of luck and not skill.
